Hi! My name is Shea...

I have worked in Western Sydney public high schools for over a decade. It is in this space that I discovered the power of digital games and the benefits of their inclusion in teaching and learning activities. My work across schools, teaching areas, and executive positions provided me a solid foundation for the commencement of my academic career.

Through undertaking a Master of Research, and now a PhD, I have refined my understanding of digital game pedagogy, its theoretical justifications, and the government policy that both supports, and hinders its applications.

I am fortunate that I have still been able to continue teaching; I am now working with Pre-service Teachers to develop their digital literacy and pedagogical practices.

Play as learning

My teaching philosophy has always revolved around engagement, effectiveness, and enrichment. Using digital games with students for the past decade, I have developed the processes to ensure that teachers are able to implement games that are effective, engaging, and enriching.

Mission & Approach

If you don't have fun teaching, then the students do not have fun learning! Enthusiasm needs to radiate from teachers to students, enabling effective learning to transpire. Using digital games as a pedagogical tool provides an avenue to embed effective teaching practices that engage and enrich your students' learning.
